Just in Time...

Just in Time...
So you just got back from the movie theater and noticed a shanty town outside the theater. Now, before you begin writing your Congressman about the alarming rise in your city's hobo population, take a look at your calendar. Yup - only four months until Star Wars: Episode II comes out and those guys just want a good seat. In order to make the wait just a little more bearable, LucasArts is already hard at work giving PS2 owners a little taste of what is to come.

Just in Time...
Regardless of people's opinions about The Phantom Menace - you would be hard pressed to find someone who did not like the pod race sequence. Of course, pod racing doesn't seem to figure into the plot of Episode II, but that's not stopping LucasArts and Rainbow Studios (ATV Offroad Fury) from bringing out Racer: Revenge this February. Racer challenges players to take control of one of 16 different pod racers (including a teenage Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba) and race in intense, do-or-die matches across 13 different, and unique, planets across the Star Wars universe. You'll race the sands of Tatoonie and various other planets (you know, the ones with names that you think you're saying right until that guy next to you in line corrects you) will have you racing through glass tubes and treacherous rock passages.

Just in Time...
If pod racing is not your thing, and you have always aspired to tangle with the ways of the Force - LucasArts may have just the thing for you this spring with Jedi Starfighter. Following a set-up similar to the original Starfighter, you will take the role of Jedi Adi Gallia as she joins forces with Nym (the space pirate from the original) to take on the Trade Federation and Saboath Squadron. Of course, what's the fun of being a Jedi without all the badass Force powers? Jedi Starfighter gives would-be Jedi a few cool tricks to really mess with the bad guys including a Force shield, a Force shockwave and Force reflexes (which slows everything but your ship and does a 'bullet-time' effect with your lasers). While the plot won't directly follow the plot of Episode II, the 15 missions will intertwine with it - culminating in a final epic battle as only the Star Wars universe can pull off.

Both Racer: Revenge and Jedi Starfighter should also include multi-player modes to help you and your buddies waiting in line pass the time before Episode II is scheduled to hit theaters.
